As sourcing is now regarded as a global game, its use as a key strategic tool is creating numerous opportunities and advantages for those who manage and deploy it well. But just how many organisations actually know the strategic value of their outsourcing activities?

This report, based on global research conducted by KPMG provides an insight into the current state of play in the global sourcing environment, and highlights significant opportunities for organisations to better capitalise on the strategic value of outsourcing.

Key findings include:

 - organisations are overwhelmingly content with their sourcing contracts with eighty-nine per cent of respondents expecting to maintain or increase current sourcing levels

 - whilst organisations believe their sourcing service providers make positive contributions to their business, a large percentage of sourcing relationships are not strategically monitored

 - businesses are struggling to determine exactly what constitutes success within their outsourcing arrangements

 - to successfully implement the level of change brought about by outsourcing, the importance of people cannot be underestimated

 - significant opportunities exist for organisations to capitalise on the strategic value of outsourcing, by assessing current procurement processes and creating more consistent measurements around contract provisions and metrics in relationships with service providers.
