Cartel Electronics, a California-based manufacturer of printed circuit boards, announced unparalleled growth this week, amidst one of the most severe economic downturns in recent U.S. history. In the span of less than one year, Cartel has seen an increase in gross sales of over 33%, with an accompanying increase in headcount, and capital equipment investment back into the Anaheim, California-based facility.

Cartel has been around for nearly two decades, but was acquired in 2008, and has flourished under a new direction and new ownership by industry veterans, Bruce McMaster, Joe Gisch and John Peters, formerly of the founding companies of DDI.

"Cartel was a locally based operation for over 18 years, with a largely regional customer base serving the Southern California marketplace. We have changed Cartel's focus to participate in the national and global marketplaces. And this is just the beginning," says Bruce McMaster, President and CEO of Cartel. "The focus of this new management group--as it has been in our past successful business endeavors--will be to continue to invest in both people and equipment to service out customers ever increasing needs."

All three principals came out of retirement to re-create Cartel Electronics. John Peters answers why they decided to re-enter the tumultuous and challenging business of printed circuit boards at this time. "We got back into this business because we saw a need that was not being met. It is our mission to bring service and integrity back to this business, and to our customers. This is something that seems to have gotten lost along the way, in the age of mergers, acquisitions, and the mad dash to go offshore. Too many companies still concentrate solely on the bottom line. We exist for our customers. We mold ourselves around their needs and that is how we will continue to grow and be successful, regardless of the economy." 

Peters adds, enthusiastically, "And we want to create jobs in the U.S. We want to be part of the economic solution. Our customers see that and appreciate it. ‘Yes we can!'"
