Integral Systems Receives $1.1 Million Contract to Continue Polar Ground System Modernization
Monday, March 9, 2009 | PR Newswire

Integral Systems Inc. has been awarded a $1.1 million contract option to complete the modernization of the Polar Acquisition and Control Subsystem (PACS) command, control and communications (C3) ground system for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). PACS, originally built and delivered by Integral Systems, has provided automated control of NOAA's polar satellite fleet for over 15 years.

Under the four-year, $4 million contract, Integral Systems has provided a critical technology refresh of PACS ground station hardware and software resulting in higher system performance and heightened security features. The PACS system provides command and control for satellites that support weather analysis and forecasting, climate research and prediction, global sea surface temperature measurements, atmospheric soundings of temperature and humidity, ocean dynamics research, volcanic eruption monitoring, forest fire detection, global vegetation analysis, search and rescue and many other applications.

"We appreciate the confidence that NOAA has shown in Integral Systems over the past 20 years," said Dave Peters, PACS upgrade program manager for Integral Systems. "We look forward to continuing our work to ensure full mission capability."
