Course Ensures Electronics Companies Meet the IPC Standard

A course which is designed to give training instructors the ability to equip staff with the knowledge required to produce work to the internationally-recognised IPC Standard in soldering is being held at Electronics Yorkshire's headquarters in West Park, Leeds, for five days starting on Monday 25 January.

Electronics Yorkshire, the organisation supporting and promoting growth of the electronics industry, has organised this IPC JStandard- 001D Certified Trainer course for any company in the UK aspiring to have its own IPC trainer.

The course will explain the required disciplines of soldering to the IPC Standard, including a detailed study of the Standard itself and will cover details on SPC, flux, solder composition, soldering to terminals, through-hole, surfacemount devices and relevant inspection. In addition, details on tutoring methods and techniques will be provided as an integral part of the course.

IPC Standards are created by industry experts through committee task groups throughout the United States, the Nordic countries and China.

In its 52-year history, IPC has published Standards for many steps of the printed circuit manufacturing and assembly process, building from a foundation of solid design up to final acceptance.

Electronics Yorkshire is the only IPC authorised centre in the UK offering five complete programmes at the two levels of CIT and CIS. CIT empowers instructors to train staff to work to specified quality standards, whilst CIS is for practitioners such as quality staff line leaders, assembly operators and design engineers. Electronics Yorkshire now offers around 20 short skills-based courses ranging from industrial entry-level soldering to the advanced IPC trainer courses.
