Sanmina-SCI Aims to Utilize Unused PCB Capacity
Wednesday, July 28, 2010 | I-Connect007

During its recent third quarter fiscal 2010 conference call, Sanmina-SCI Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Jure Sola, said that his company plans to use up its unutilized PCB capacity.

"If you look at our component businesses, [for instance] PCBs, our Asian factories are running at 85 to 90% right now, but we have one North America plant that is running over 90%, and we got another one that is running at 55 to 60%," said Sola. "So, we still have extra capacity here, and our goal here is to fill it up.
As we start filling it up, it should drive the margin."

Sola added that as one important part of Sanmina's strategy is for the company to go after customers where it can add a lot of value, and where it can compete based on technology, not just selling labor.
